In 2023, every 10 minutes, a woman was killed by her partner or family members.
To mark the close of this year’s 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, which links the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (25 Nov) with International Human Rights Day (10 Dec), IUCN held a virtual event to explore how gender-responsive finance and programmatic action can address women’s safety from gender-based violence in environmental contexts.
The event featured government speakers (see below) honing focus on gender-based violence and environmental linkages and showcasing learning from project sites under the Resilient, Inclusive and Sustainable Environments (RISE) grants challenge – the globe’s only dedicated mechanism to supporting environmental organizations to develop and integrate capacities to identify and address gender-based violence and environment linkages.
