The violence of inequality garnered coverage from more than 60 news articles in the first week of the report’s launch. Since then, this research and its coverage has inspired investments, investigations and actions, creating change every day.

Environmental protection is one area where women are generating different success stories while their engagement is obstructed by gender-based violence and unpaid care work – a view from IUCN Bangladesh.
Focusing on the 2021 Texas winter storm, this report draws on expertise from IUCN and other UN reports on the link between severe weather events and gender-based violence, which has been shown to be more lethal during incidents of extreme weather which is a global problem that is not just linked to smaller, less-wealthy countries.
The author reflects on international agreements on gender equality, the levels of gender-based violence in Pakistan and the impact of climate change. Additionally, she makes a call for cross-sectoral collaboration to address GBV, including in efforts to combat climate change, to achieve development goals.
