Synopsis

In Kenya, women traditionally do not own land and comprise under ten percent of conservancy membership. The social norms, practices, and beliefs that lead to women’s marginalization within conservancies are both perpetuated by and contribute to gender-based violence. This factsheets provides an snapshot on the impact of the Kenya Wildlife Conservancies Association (KWCA) project addressing gender-based violence preventing women’s engagement in conservancies under USAID Resilient, Inclusive and Sustainable Environments (RISE) grants challenge.
