Gender Guide. Gender-responsive guidance for coastal conservation and sustainable fisheries projects

The Gender Guide aims to provide a practical how-to for designing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating gender-responsive projects in marine and coastal resource management. It is designed to contribute to designing and rolling out human rights-based and gender-responsive approaches in marine conservation and development of fishing communities, to promote women’s empowerment and effective participation in the marine conservation context, to contribute to the elimination of gender-based violence in Blue Action funded projects, and to make measurable progress in achieving gender equality and gender-equitable outcomes within Blue Action-supported projects.

Mainstreaming gender in regional biodiversity projects

AGENT provided gender technical support for USAID’s Regional Coastal Biodiversity Project in Central America (RCBP). This included a gender analysis for one of the project sites where information was gathered by conducting workshops and focus groups with local women and men.

Gender-based violence and environment linkages during COVID-19: Information note

Gender-based violence is pervasive around the world, in all societies, contexts and sectors. The socio-economic stresses of the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions on movement have significantly increased gender-based violence risks, particularly domestic violence. This Information Note is prepared by the IUCN Global Programme on Governance and Rights. It provides overview information for promoting awareness among environmental organisations and will be updated regularly.
