Synopsis

Due to lack of gender-disaggregated data, the gendered impacts of disaster displacement and environmental migration in the Caribbean are not well understood. This study presents case studies on the gendered impacts of disaster displacement and environmental migration in Bahamas, Dominica, Jamaica and Cuba to address this data gap. And explores how extreme weather events and climate change can amplify inequalities and the risks faced by women, girls and marginalized groups when they are in the process of migration, including gender-based violence – a key area for priority attention and action.
