During FY20 (October 1, 2019 – September 30, 2020), the USAID Hub for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment in the Bureau for Development, Democracy, and Innovation (DDI) and International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) continued to partner together to build new knowledge and deliver technical assistance to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment in environment contexts through the Advancing Gender in the Environment (AGENT) partnership.

The work presented in this annual review demonstrates that investments in gender-responsive knowledge, strategies, cooperation, and action across sectors strengthen opportunities to meet both gender equality and environment goals.

This review showcases the achievements across AGENT’s portfolio throughout the year, with emphasis on better understanding and addressing gender-based violence (GBV) and environmental linkages, advancing gender capacities in geospatial data and science application, strengthening gender integration in sustainable fisheries programs, and tailoring project-specific technical support. Snapshots of what will come from AGENT in FY21 are reflected throughout.
