International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) updated Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment Policy recognises that gender-based violence (GBV) and violence against women environmental defenders need special attention and corrective action, and requires projects to take steps to ensure activities do not exacerbate GBV.
