Though entire populations are affected by climate change, women and girls suffer the most, including heightened risks of different forms of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV). Nevertheless, there are no international legal instruments yet that deal with SGBV during and after climate change induced disasters. This academic paper analyses the growing causal relationship between climate change and SGBV against women and girls through the review of initiatives, academic literature and existing international legal instruments and intergovernmental processes.
